What are the rules when taking the Knowledge Exam online?

Before starting your exam, it is important to note that Florida's exam provider has strict instructions you must follow in order to pass the exam. Failure to follow these instructions may result in a failed exam:

  • You will be required to take this exam on a desktop or laptop computer, mobile devices are NOT supported.
    • We recommend using Chrome or Firefox with a freshly cleared cache. You can find instructions for clearing your cache and cookies here:
  • You will be redirected to a partner website to take your exam. Please remain on that page until you have completed the exam in its entirety.
  • You will be required to complete 2 verification questions prior to beginning your exam.
  • You will have 60 minutes to complete your exam and 2 minutes per question.
    • Please note, there is not a timer on the partner website.
  • If you reach 11 incorrect answers, your exam will end with a failed result.
  • Switching between tabs or pages during the exam will result in a failed exam
  • If you accidentally close the webpage, please come back to this screen and click "Start Exam" again.

Note: Florida state law requires that you purchase the knowledge exam again if you fail the exam, fail a security question, or don’t complete the exam in 60 minutes. You have up to three chances to take the exam online. After that, the state of Florida requires that you take the exam at the Driver License Office in person.
