How/When do I get my permit?

If you are under 18, you can get your permit in the state of Georgia if you meet the following requirements:

You are at least 15 years old
You have passed the required Vision and Knowledge exams at the Department of Driver Services (DDS)

Although you are able to test for and obtain your permit before completing a Drivers Ed course, we recommend completing at least the first 7 levels of the course and reviewing the GA Drivers Manual before taking your Road Rules and Road Signs tests! You must obtain your permit before you are eligible to receive your Completion Certificate for the course! You'll need to enter your permit number before taking the Final Exam so that we can print it on your Completion Certificate,
