Am I required to do any behind-the-wheel hours?

Nope. As long as you can pass the driving test, that’s all DPS cares! However, if you need to learn or practice driving before your driving test, we highly recommend using your certificate to get a permit. With your permit, you can legally drive as long as your front passenger is a licensed driver, aged 21 years or older, and has at least 1 year of driving experience. You don’t want to get pulled over by a cop and have no permit to show!
